Biographical Information:

John served in the Confederate Army during the Civil war, serving until after the surrender at Appomattox. He was assigned to Phillip's Battalion of the Georgia Volunteers, first as an enlisted man, finally as First Lieutenant. He and his wife lived at their "Beechwood" near Dalton, GA. Eugenia reordered her memories of the Civil War in an interesting letter to her niece in 1928. [211]
